LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Franklin & Marshall's men's squash team handed Brown a 6-3 defeat in the first round of the College Squash Association (CSA) Hoehn Cup division. The Diplomats (15-5) swept the first six positions on the ladder for the win and, at the Bears (4-9) expense, picked up their first win over an Ivy League team this season.

No. 1 Nadaav Tannen and No. 6 Ry Hawley cut their opponents down in three. Tannen (14-5) knocked off Adrian Leanza 9-1, 9-5, 9-7, while Hawley (12-7) allowed eight points in his 9-5, 9-2, 9-3 victory. No. 2 Gabriel de Melo (11-2) ran his personal winning streak to three matches with a 9-1, 6-9, 9-5, 9-1 win over Ben Clayman.

The Diplomats victory was the first over Brown since the 1994-1995 season and improved F&M's record to 4-5 overall against the Bears. The Diplomats remain unblemished at neutral sites, improving their record to 10-0.

F&M continues its quest for the nation's ninth ranking in the true playoff on Saturday when the Diplomats face Williams in the Hoehn Semifinals. The match gets underway at 3:00 p.m.
