WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team collected their second straight win and shutout with a 2-0 decision over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday.
The Diplomats (6-4-2, 2-1-2 CC) took a 1-0 lead at halftime off an own goal, before getting an insurance goal from Rob Hassler off an assist from Rodrigo Nogales in the 78th minute for the victory.
This is the second straight game Hassler and Nogales were instrumental in F&M's win. Hassler took the initial shot that Michael Radcliffe saved and was cleared by a Green Terror (4-7-1, 1-3-1 CC) defender into the goal.
Hassler netted his second goal of the season at the with 22:55 minutes left to play to make it 2-0. Nogales started the play on the left side and sent the ball into Hassler for the goal into the lower right corner.
Zack Zamek worked 85 minutes in the goal to gather four saves, while Radcliffe made six stops for McDaniel.
The Diplomats held a slight edge in shots (10-9), but the Green Terror posted a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
F&M will face Susquehanna on Wednesday night, beginning at 7 p.m.
