Franklin & Marshall Moves to Second on Day Two of Centennial Conference Men's Golf Championships

PEACH BOTTOM, PA - McDaniel College's Tom Michaels carded a 73, while Steve Perrone shot 74, to lead the Green Terror men's golf team to a 10 stroke lead through round two of the 2006 Centennial Conference Men's Golf Championships hosted by Franklin & Marshall College at Pilgrim's Oak Golf Club.

F&M (645), which entered the second round with a one stroke lead over McDaniel, shot 325 on day two following a first round 320 to move 10 strokes behind the Green Terror (321-314-635) for first place with one round of golf yet to play.

For the Diplomats, Dennis Gunderson (Fr., Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) led the team on day two shooting 79 as he was one of four players to break 80 on day two of the tournament joining Michaels, Perrone and Gettysburg College's Tom Kefalas who shot 77.

Ben Madonia (Sr., Clinton, NY/Clinton) was second for F&M with an 81 and Bryan Hartog (Fr., Richmond Hill, Ontario/Langstaff) carded a round of 82, while Ross Brown (Fr., Kingston, PA/Wyoming Seminary) and Kevin Penhallegon (So., Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven) both shot 83.

Through two rounds of play, Madonia stands third at 161 (80-81), while Hartog (80-82-162) and Brown (79-83-162) are tied for seventh, Gunderson (84-79-163) ranks 10th and Penhallegon (83-83-166) is 14th.

Perrone leads the tournament with a two-day total of 150 (76-74), while Gettysburg's Kefalas is second with a 155 (78-77).

Overall, McDaniel (321-314-635), F&M (320-325-645), Gettysburg (322-332-654), Swarthmore (329-335-664), Muhlenberg (331-334-665), Ursinus (337-329-666), Dickinson (338-333-671) and Haverford (345-336-681) will continue the tournament in the final round on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
