Crooms Shoots 74 as Diplomats Take First Round Lead at Centennial Conference Men's Golf Championship

BERLIN, MD -- Carson Crooms (Fr., St. Petersburg, FL/Canterbury) shot a first round of 74 to place second in the individual standings at the 2004 Centennial Conference Men's Golf Championship at Eagles Landing Golf Course in Ocean City, Maryland.

Crooms' score helped F&M, the 2003 Centennial Conference champions, take the first round lead at the Championships for the first time in program history as F&M entered the clubhouse with a team score of 306, two strokes better than Swarthmore (308) and four strokes ahead of the pace of Muhlenberg (310).

Overall, all four Diplomat scorers shot in the 70's as Kevin Philipow (Jr., Sudbury, Ontario/Region 18) carded a 76, while Dan Eggertsson (Jr., Royal Palm Beach, FL/Suncoast) and Ben Madonia (So., Clinton, NY/Clinton) both shot 78.

Competition will continue on Saturday, April 24 at Eagles Landing.
