HERSHEY, PA - Bryan Hartog (Fr., Richmond Hill, Ontario/Langstaff) and Kevin Penhallegon (So., Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven) shot 76 to tie for fifth and lead the Franklin & Marshall College men's golf team to first place at the Elizabethtown College Spring Blue Jay Classic at Hershey Golf Club's East Course.
The performance marked the Diplomats first title since capturing the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational on April 18, 2005 at Bent Creek Country Club.
In addition, the Diplomats earned their second top two performance at Hershey this year as Franklin & Marshall finished second of 17 teams at the Elizabethtown Fall Classic on October 6.
Ross Brown (Fr., Kingston, PA/Wyoming Seminary) finished one stroke behind Hartog (40-36) and Penhallegon (40-36) as he shot 77 (42-35), while Ben Madonia (Sr., Clinton, NY/Clinton) carded an 80 (41-39) and James Nelson (Fr., Poughkeepsie, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) shot 87 (46-41) over the par 71 Hershey East Course.
Franklin & Marshall, which finished with a team score of 309, won the tournament title by six strokes over Moravian College as the Greyhounds placed second with a score 315. Moravian's Dustin McCormick earned medalist honors as he shot 73 (40-33), while Lebanon Valley's Steve Thomas finished second with a 74 (39-35).
The Diplomats will return to action on April 23-24 at the Kings Invitational at Glenmaura.
