Gunderson & Hartog Shoot 73 to Lead Diplomats to Second at F&M Spring Men's Golf Invitational

LANCASTER, PA - Bryan Hartog (Fr., Richmond Hill, Ontario/Langstaff) and Dennis Gunderson (Fr., Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) both shot 73 to lead the Diplomats to a runner-up finish at the 2006 Franklin & Marshall College Men's Golf Invitational hosted at Bent Creek Country Club.

Hartog (34-39) and Gunderson (37-36) tied for third in the invitational with Neumann College's Greg Warrington (35-38-73), while Wesley College's Mike Rushin shot 71 (38-33) to earn medalist honors.

As a team, the Diplomats shot the second lowest score in program history bettered only by Franklin & Marshall's 300 score at the Elizabethtown Invitational on October 6, 2005.

Overall, the score is three strokes better than the second best team finish in the history of the program as the Diplomats shot 304 in the second round of the 2003 Centennial Conference Championships at Eagles Landing Golf Course in Berlin, Maryland.

Ben Madonia (Sr., Clinton, NY/Clinton) carded a 75 (35-40), while Ross Brown (Fr., Kingston, PA/Wyoming Seminary) shot 80 (37-43) and Mark Quick (Sr., Forest Hill, MD/St. Paul's) shot 83 (43-40) to round out the Diplomats "A" team.

On the "B" team, Kevin Penhallagon (So., Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven) led the way with a 74 (35-39), while James Nelson (Fr., Poughkeepsie, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) shot 80 (41-39), Matt Oscadal (Jr., Lebanon, NH/Lebanon) finished with an 84 (46-38), Tim Sheridan (Fr., Kennett Square, PA/Sanford) shot 86 (42-44), Chris Shadek (Sr., Alpine, NJ/Alpine) carded a 92 (44-48) and Matt Dietz (Jr., Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) finished with a 93 (43-50).

The Diplomats will return to action on April 23-24 at the Kings Invitational at Glenmaura.
