Diplomats Finish 12th at NCAA Men's Golf Mid-Atlantic Regional

HERSHEY, PA - Bryan Hartog (Fr., Richmond Hill, Ontario/Langstaff) shot rounds of 78 and 82 for a total of 160 and a tie for 18th place on the Par 71 Hershey East Country Club layout to lead the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats to a 12th place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Invitational on April 9-10.

As a team, the Diplomats put together a total of 333 and 331 for a total of 664, one stroke behind 11th place Grove City College. Allegheny College finished in first, posting a tournament team best score of 301 in the final round for a 619 total and a 12 shot cushion over second place Rochester University, St. John Fisher College and Washington & Jefferson College (637).

Other top finishers for the Diplomats included Ross Brown (Fr., Kingston, PA/ Wyoming Seminary) who shot 83-81 to tie for 36th with a combined score of 164, Ben Madonia (Sr., Clinton, NY/Clinton) carded rounds of 82 and 87 for a 169 and 52nd place, while Dennis Gunderson (Fr., Duxbury, MA /Duxbury) shot 91-81-172 to tie for 56th place.

Kevin Penhallegon (So., Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven) rounded out the Diplomats finishers as he shot 90-87-177 to tie for 69th place.

Allegheny's Chad Kosanovic earned medalist honors as he shot a one-under par 70 in the final round for a total of 150 and a tiebreaker win over Stephen Goodridge of Rochester who finished with rounds of 76 and 74.

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Invitational is the Region's premier event of the golfing year as the top 15 ranked teams in the Region are invited to compete every year to potentially determine who will receive the three bids from the Region to the NCAA Tournament in May.

The Diplomats will return to action on April 17 as they host the F&M Invitational at Bent Creek Country Club. The shotgun start is slated for 1:00 PM.
