Dietz Leads Franklin & Marshall to Eighth Place at Washington & Jefferson Men's Golf Invitational

WASHINGTON, PA -- Matt Dietz (Fr., Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) shot 73 to tie for second place and lead the Franklin & Marshall College men's golf team to an eighth place finish at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational.

For the Diplomats, Dietz shot 38 on the front-nine and 35 on the back nine to finish six strokes off the pace of tournament medallist Tom Ferrero of Hamilton (63) and tie with LaRoche's Adam Langford.

Kevin Philipow (Jr., Sudbury, Ontario/Region 18), 39-45, and Ben Madonia (So., Clinton, NY/Clinton), 43-41, carded rounds of 84, while Dan Eggertsson (Jr., Royal Palm Beach, FL/Suncoast) shot 86 (42-44) and 2003 Centennial Conference medallist Nick Leigh (Sr., Innisfil, Ontario, Canada) finished with an 89 (44-45) to round out the Diplomats' competitors.

Overall, Hamilton captured the team title with a score of 301, two strokes better than runner-up Allegheny (303) and four strokes better than third place Westminster (305).

Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on April 7 at the Elizabethtown Invitational
