PEACH BOTTOM, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall holds an 11-stroke lead after the first day of competition at the Centennial Conference Championships at Pilgrim's Oak Golf Course. Chuck Anttonnen sits at the top of the leaderbaord having shot a 72 for even par on the damp 6,631-yard course.
The Diplomats posted a combined team score of 301, and are followed by McDaniel and Muhlenberg, who are tied for second place each having shot a team 312. Anttonen holds two-stokes on three golfers tied for second place, including teammate, Dennis Gunderson. Gunderson, along with Swarthmore's Eric Zwick and Muhlenberg's Bill Snow are all two over with a 74. McDaniel's Gerry Butler sits alone in fifth place having shot a 75 (+3).
Franklin & Marshall landed three golfers in the top ten after one round. In addition to Anttonen and Gunderson, Joe Fucigna is tied for sixth with a 76 (+4). Muhlenberg and McDaniel each have two golfers in the top ten.
The second of three rounds gets underway tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
