HERSHEY, PA - Franklin & Marshall's Dennis Gunderson shot a 74 to tie with Muhlenberg's Garrett Carpenter for fifth place at the Blue Jay Spring Classic, hosted by Elizabethtown Thursday afternoon. The Diplomats finished in third place amongst the 16 teams competing on the par 71 Hershey Country Club East course, the same venue at which the Diplomats won the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships earlier this week.
Franklin & Marshall shot a 307, finishing six strokes off of Susquehanna, and two strokes behind second place York. Susquehanna's Pat Serfass was the individual medalist, and one of two Crusaders to finish in the top five. Mitch Mercer shot a 73 to tie for third place, three strokes off of Serfass' championship score of 70.
Gunderson's 74 was the lowest round shot by a Diplomat on the Hershey course in the three rounds played there this week. Chuck Anttonen and Joe Fucigna each shot a 77 for Franklin & Marshall, tying for 13th place. Bryan Hartog rounded out the Diplomats team scoring with a 79 (t-24), while Andrew Woods shot an 82 (t-39).
