LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's men's golf team will open the spring portion of its 2017 schedule this weekend at the two-day McDaniel Spring Invitational, taking place at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown. The Diplomats are looking to build off a strong fall campaign and are coming off a year that saw F&M extend its run of continued dominance in the Centennial Conference (CC).

A pair of All-Americans return from an F&M team that captured its third consecutive CC Championship and seventh in nine years while tying for 12th at the NCAA Championship – the highest-ever finish for a CC school since the NCAA adopted its current format.
This year's group welcomes back three of the five CC and NCAA Tournament scorers from a year ago, but the Diplomats will need to offset the loss of graduating senior Dan Furman, who was an All-CC First Team member after tying for second at last year's Championships.
Reigning All-American's Stephen Colodny and Brad Lankler tallied the two highest finishes, fourth and sixth respectively, in Diplomat history at last year's NCAA Tournament. Colodny shot 73-72-74-78 for a total of 297 and Lankler posted rounds of 73, 72, 77, and 76 to total 298.
Senior Jon Meissner also expects to be a contributor to the top-five following his 11th-place finish at the 2016 CC Championships after shooting a 74-80-77, while freshmen Justin Lankler and Kevin McGloin are also in the mix following strong fall campaigns.
A Recap of the Fall
The Diplomats strung together four top-five tournament performances in the fall, which included a first-place showing out of 18 teams at the Ted Keller Memorial Tournament, hosted by Randolph-Macon on Oct. 10-11.
Brad Lankler led the way with a 73.4 stroke average and three top-10 showings through eight rounds in the fall, followed by Colodny with a 74.6 average through 10 rounds, to go along with two top-five finishes.
After F&M's opening weekend of action, the Diplomats are set to compete in three additional tournaments leading up to the 2017 CC Championships, which are once again hosted by McDaniel. The three-day Tournament at the Bridges Golf Club is slated for April 28-30.
