Golfers Finish Fourth at E’town Invite

HERSHEY, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's men's golf team finished in fourth place amongst the seven competing teas at the Elizabethtown College Invitational. Methodist University handily won the event with a 295, finishing six strokes ahead of Washington & Lee. The Diplomats were 18 strokes off of the championship benchmark.

Two Diplomats finished in the top 15 of the 34-golfer field. Brendan Mohler tied with W&L's Anthony Wilson for eighth place with a 36-hole score of 153. Mohler shot a 76 on Sunday to shave a shot off of hist Saturday score. The 153 was seven strokes off of the 146 posted by Methodist's Josh Schrader. Schrader shot a 71 and 75 to finish three strokes above par for the tournament. Cameron Warner and Rutgers-Camden's Joe DeVito carded the same score in each round, 76 and 81, for a 36-hole total of 157 and a 12th place tie.

Methodist's scoring four swept the top of the leaderboard. Trey Howell finished a single stroke behind Schrader for sole ownership of second place. Liam Friedman and Josh Speight both shot 148 to tie for third place along with W&L's Robert Womble.

The Diplomats got a 17th place finish from Andrew Woods, who tied with a pair of Farmingdale State golfers with a 159. Danny Liebowitz and Joe Fucigna owned 20th and 21st with respective scores of 160 and 161. F&M held 45 strokes on fifth place St. Joseph's (Long Island). Elizabethtown owned sixth place with Rutgers-Camden rounding out the field.

F&M returns to action tomorrow at the Lebanon Valley Invitational.
