Tompos Named Golf Coach

Franklin & Marshall Director of Athletics and Recreation,
Patricia S.W. Epps has announced Andy
Tompos ’69 as Head Men’s Golf Coach. Tompos
takes over for Glenn Robinson, who has guided the
Diplomats since 1997.
Leading Diplomat golfers is old hat for Tompos, who captained the
F&M golf team as a senior. He was also named captain emeritus.
Formerly the top player in the F&M lineup, Tompos has served as
an assistant coach since 2002 and volunteered for numerous years
prior to his hiring. He assisted Robinson in coaching F&M to a
pair of Centennial Conference Championships in 2003 and 2007, and
producing two individual champions during Robinson’s tenure.
The 2007 Diplomats finished in 19th place at the NCAA
Championships.
“We are thrilled to have Coach Tompos on board,” said
Epps. “He has been a tremendous part of our golfing success
over the past several years and his knowledge of the program as
both a player and coach makes him a fantastic asset to the
department.”
In his life on the links, Tompos has won over 25 golf tournaments,
including the 1998 Lancaster Amateur, the 2000 Lancaster Senior
Amateur, and the 2007 and 2008 Pennsylvania State Senior Publinks
Amateur. He has also been a participant in the USGA Senior Amateur
(2003), National Senior Hall of Fame (2004), and North-South Senior
Amateur at Pinehurst (2006, 2007, 2008)
In addition to his degree from F&M, Tompos has a
Master’s in Mathematics Education from Millersville
University. He has spent 33 years in real estate and has been a
professor at Stevens College of Technology. He published Analyzing
Investment Properties, now in its second edition.
Tompos resides in Lancaster County with his wife, Betty. They are
the proud parents of daughters, Jessica and Sarah, and grandparents
of Willi and Riley.
