SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall’s golf team won its second tournament this week, capturing the Susquehanna Fall Golf Invitational on Saturday. The Diplomats edged two of the tournament’s 18 teams by a single stroke, beating out Muhlenberg and Wilkes for the title. F&M captured the Elizabethtown Fall Classic on Thursday and placed second at the LVC Fall Invitational on Tuesday.
McDaniel and Susquehanna each posted a team score of 308 to finish five strokes off of F&M’s 303. Elizabethtown rounded out the top five with a 309.
The Diplomats had five golfers shoot in the 70’s during a driving rain storm. All of them finished in the top 25. Dennis Gunderson and Steve Colallilo paced the squad, each carding a 75. That effort was good enough for an eighth place tie with two other golfers. Bryan Hartog shot a 76 for 12th place, followed by Andrew Woods’ 77 to finish in a tie for 17th. Danny Liebowitz rounded out the F&M contingent with a 78 (T-23).
There were 88 golfers in the field. Susuehanna's Nick Paone made use of the home course advantage to capture the individual medal having shot a 72.
The Diplomats return to action next Monday when F&M hosts the Bent Creek Invitational. The Diplomats' tourney tees off at 12:30 p.m.
