Capone Listed as a Linebacker "Steal" on Allsports.com Pro Draft Report

LANCASTER, PA -- Franklin & Marshall College defensive lineman Matt Capone (Sr., Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) is listed among the nation's top linebacker "steals" in the AllSports.com Pro Draft Report.

A 2004 All-Centennial Conference honorable mention defensive lineman, the 6'-1", 240 lbs. Capone garnered his second All-Centennial Conference after earning second team honors in 2003. This year, he led the Diplomats in tackles with 68, including eight tackles for loss of 18 yards and one sack for four yards, with one pass defense and a fumble recovery.

Against Ursinus in a 28-21 win, he recovered a fumble in the end zone after linebacker Joe LoCastro (Jr., Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) sacked Ursinus quarterback Vince Gallagher at the two yard line with 7:54 remaining in the fourth quarter as Franklin & Marshall rallied from a 21-14 deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Bears.

For his career, he finishes with 219 tackles, including 29 tackles for loss of 88 yards and nine sacks for 41 yards, with three pass breakups, four fumbles forced and three fumble recoveries.

A two-sport athlete at the College, Capone is among the nation's best men's lacrosse face-off specialists in the nation and has scored three goals and one assist for four points in his career.

The Centennial Conference leader in face-off percentage, he has won 163-of-222 (73.4%) face-offs this year to raise his career total to 661-for-854 (77.4%).

A 2004 and 2005 third team preseason All-America selection in lacrosse, Capone led the Centennial Conference and NCAA Division III for the second straight season in 2004 by winning 211-of-275 face-offs for a 76.72 percentage.

A 2003 and 2004 All-Centennial Conference first team selection, he established the NCAA all divisions record for face-off winning percentage (80.6) by winning 288-of-357 face-offs during the 2003 season to lead Franklin & Marshall to the NCAA "Elite Eight", a 12-4 record and a #9 national ranking.

Historically, he is the second Franklin & Marshall College football player listed on the site as wide receiver Justin Salton '04 was named to the team list following the 2003 season.
