It’s First & Goal for Football Staff

Franklin & Marshall College’s head football coach, John Troxell, is set to work the 2009 the second half of the annual Lauren’s First and Goal Foundation camps. The one-day charity camps will be held annually at Lafayette University and the University of South Florida benefit the Lauren’s First and Goal Foundation. Troxell and his wife, Pamela, serve on the Foundation’s Board of Directors. (more)

Diplomats Announce 2009 Schedule

Franklin & Marshall’s Department of Athletics and Recreation announced the 2009 Football schedule on Thursday. The Diplomats will face the same ten opponents they faced a season ago. (more)

Wha…? Gregory Not Drafted?

Forgive the confusion of Franklin & Marshall football fans everywhere. For several weeks leading up to the NFL Draft, Diplomats linebacker, James Gregory, was projected to land on teams like the Seattle Seahawks as high as the 25th pick of the first round. (more)

Five Diplomats Inducted to Hampshire Honor Society

Five members of Franklin & Marshall’s football team were amongst the inductees to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Society. (more)

Eight Diplomats Recognized by Centennial Conference

Eight members of Franklin & Marshall College’s football team were recognized at nine positions by the Centennial Conference’s (CC) coaches when the all-league team was announced on Monday. (more)

Bullets Shoot Down Diplomats

After watching Ryan Murray run all over its defense in last year’s meeting, the Gettysburg Bullets returned the favor, running to a 54-21 win over Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) football on Saturday. The Bullets (5-5, 5-3 CC) rolled up 299 yards of rushing on 25 carries in the first half and 434 yards in the game. Three of the first half touches ended in the Diplomats’ (4-6, 3-5 CC) end zone, giving the Bullets an insurmountable 33-7 lead at the half. (more)

Hopkins Heartbreak

A.J. Albert intercepted John Harrison’s two point conversion pass in the waning moments of the fourth quarter to seal a 26-25 Johns Hopkins win over Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) football action on Saturday. The Diplomats (4-5, 3-4 CC) gambled in playing for the win and lost, however, they recovered the onsides kick with 27 seconds left in the game for another crack. With F&M working without the aid of any timeouts, Hopkins (7-2, 5-2 CC) closed the door on the Diplomats after three plays, tackling Ryan Murray on the Jay’s 41-yardline leading to the expiration of the clock. Briggs Earns Academic Scholarship

Lewie Briggs, a native of Easton, Pa. and a sophomore at Franklin & Marshall College, has been awarded one of two Rouse Scholarship by the College. (more)

Eager Named CC POW... Again

Franklin & Marshall junior wide receiver, George Eager (Lititz, PA / Manhiem Twp.), was named the Centennial Conference’s (CC) Offensive Player of the Week following his effort in the Diplomats’ 20-0 win over McDaniel College on Saturday. (more)

Named the 39th coach in Franklin & Marshall football history on March 22, 2006, Troxell took the reins of the Diplomats following five seasons (2001-2005) as an assistant coach at Lafayette during which he served as video coordinator, running backs coach, recruiting coordinator and special teams coach for the 2004 and 2005 Patriot League champion Leopards.
