PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's rowing team had a pair of boats compete at Saturday's 34th Memorial Murphy Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
In the men's Varsity 8 event, a team of Tamir Shemesh (coxswain), James Nelson (8), Sean Hyland (7), Craig Fanto (6), Dillan DeCaro (5), James Jarvis (4), Jonathan Munro (3), Calvin Coffeen (2) and Aidan Molloy (1) placed sixth in their heat with a time of 6:43.37, but were unable to advance to the grand final. Temple crossed the line first with a time of 5:56.05.
A boat of Ryan Paulekas (coxswain), Grant Salley (8), Christopher Howe-Smith (7), Samuel Parsons (6), Javier Ricardo (5), Joel Cannon (4), Trexler Hirn (3), Dawei Ren (2) and Pierce Lawlor (1) participated in the Junior Varsity 8 event, rowing to a fifth-place finish and a time of 7:08.93 in their heat. Temple again placed first at 6:01.19.
The Diplomats return to the water next Saturday, facing off against La Salle, Philadelphia U. and Washington College in Philadelphia.
