The Shoremen had a three-point edge, 43-40, at 16:14, but F&M responded with a Matthew Tate led 14-0 run over the next four minutes and took the lead for good. Tate scored 10 points in the game-decisive run. Washington came within seven, 55-48, but the Diplomats increased their lead to 14, 65-51 at 5:04 and held at least a nine-point edge the remainder of the game.
McGrath hit 7-of-12 from the floor to finish with 17 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds. Tate scored 17 off the bench and Brandon Federici netted 14. Hunter Eggers finished with 11 while Jared Wright handed out eight assists to go along with his six points.
James Drury had a game-high 21 for Washington and was the only Shoremen in double-figures.
Rebounds were even at 33-33 and F&M converted 21 turnovers into 23 points.
The Diplomats travel to Dickinson on Wednesday for an 8:00 p.m. contest before wrapping up the regular season by hosting Swarthmore on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
