ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Brandon Federici matched his career-high with 34 points to lead Franklin & Marshall to an 80-63 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference (CC) basketball action. The win completes the season sweep over the Mules for F&M and improves their record to 15-6, 9-5 CC while Muhlenberg fell to 11-9, 6-8 CC.
The Diplomats never trailed and jumped out to a 10-5 lead early in the game. F&M improved their edge to 14, 30-16, on a Federici triple at 7:26 and went up 20 points at 2:21 before heading into the break with a 47-27 advantage.
F&M continued to control the game in the second and an Ignas Slyka jumper at 15:35 gave the Diplomats their largest lead of the game with F&M leading 61-35. F&M maintained a double-digit advantage the remainder of the game and cruised to the victory.
Federici hit 10-of-20 from the floor, including seven triples for his 34 points to go along with a game-high three steals. Matthew Tate netted 20 on 8-for-14 shooting and J.C. McGrath finished with nine points and seven rebounds. Lionel Owona contributed seven off the bench with six boards.
Owen McLeod paced Muhlenberg with 14 points off the bench and Jeaniee Baez added 13 for the Mules.
F&M outshot Muhlenberg 47-42-percent, held a slight 31-30 edge on the boards and scored 22 points off of turnovers.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M hosts Johns Hopkins at 7:30 p.m.
