The days are getting shorter and the leaves are changing color. Any Lancasterian worth his or her salt knows that means basketball season is right around the corner. The Diplomats are set to formally kick off the 2008-2009 season Friday night with Midnight Madness, well, sort of.
The annual event will actually go off at 11 p.m. in the Mayser Center, and will be the formal introduction of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The evening will feature slam dunks and lay-ups, a performance by the College’s dance team, a pair of ten minute scrimmages (10 minutes for the men and 10 minutes for the women), and half-court shots from the crowd.
The night will be aired live on B2 Networks.
The event will be preceded by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee’s (SAAC) reintroduction of the Dip Pride program. Dip Pride was designed by the SAAC in order to foster the integration of student athletes, administrators, and the greater college community. Dip Pride aims to acknowledge, develop, and encourage the student-athletes' contributions to Franklin and Marshall College and Lancaster County's communities.
