LANCASTER, Pa. – Alex Guerra was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Pitcher of the Week and Dan Marano was announced as the Player of the Week on Monday. The honor is the first of each player's career.
Guerra went 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA, striking out six in 12 innings on the mound. He scattered four hits, fanning six in six innings of work in a 12-0 win against Grinnell on Monday, and followed with a quality start in a 12-5 victory over Trinity on Sunday. The Diplomats' senior right hander moved one step closer to the program's all-time wins record and is now just six shy of Ted Serro '06 after recording the 13th and 14th victories of his career.
Marano led the squad with a .484/.471/.710 split, tallying 13 RBIs, four doubles, 15 hits and 11 runs scored. Against Southern Vermont on Tuesday, Marano went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, one home run and four RBIs as the Diplomats won 23-6, scoring the most runs in a single game since 2000.
F&M went 6-3 last week at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in Winter Haven, concluding its spring break trip with an 8-3 mark. The Diplomats return to action tomorrow at Caplan Field, taking on Wilkes at 3:30 p.m.
