Complete Director's Cup Standings

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall placed 65th out of 442 NCAA Division III schools in the final 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings. The 65th-place finish is the third-best in school history and the 266 points are the second-most in school history. F&M's highest rank came in 2008-09 with a 47th-place finish and 305 points.

The Directors' Cup program honors the top overall athletic programs (Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA) in the country. Points are awarded based on an institution's national postseason participation and success in NCAA Championship competition.

F&M ranked fourth amongst Centennial Conference (CC) schools and is one of five CC schools rated in the top 100. Johns Hopkins (7th/789.5), Haverford (41st/364.25), Dickinson (50th/328), and Gettysburg (99th/192) also landed in the top 100. The Centennial is one of just six Division III conferences to place five or more institutions in the top 100.

F&M has improved its place in the standings for the third straight year after a 105th-place finish in 2010-11 and a 96th-place finish last year.

A strong spring propelled F&M to 65th in the standings, as four spring teams earned points. A quarterfinal run by the women's lacrosse team added 70 points to the total, while women's track & field (33.5), baseball (25), and men's track & field (17.5) also boosted F&M's ranking.

In the fall, field hockey's NCAA appearance put F&M on the board with 25 points, good for 129th place entering the winter season. Women's indoor track & field (47.5), women's swimming (29), and wrestling (18.5) added points in the winter to put F&M in 95th heading into the spring.

Williams finished first with 1273.75 points for its 16th title in the 18-year history of the cup. Emory (986.5), Middlebury (941.75), Wisconsin Whitewater (895), and Washington (Mo.) (859.5) rounded out the top five schools.
