LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall cruised past visiting Keuka 18-4 in non-conference baseball action on Sunday afternoon at Caplan Field. The Diplomats move to 7-9 with the victory, while the Storm drop to 0-3.
The Diplomats jumped all over the Storm from the start, tallying three runs in the first inning and four in the second to grab an early 7-0 edge. A four-run fourth stretched the advantage to 11-0, and a seven-run fifth capped off the scoring for F&M.
Alex Vescera and Matt Mezansky led F&M at the plate with three RBIs apiece, while Brian Erb went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Will Benenson posted a 2-for-3 line with an RBI and three runs scored, and Aaron Gillette went 2-for-2 with an RBI and touched home four times.
Alex Guerra pitched 5.0 shutout innings to earn the win and move to 2-1 on the year. The junior righthander struck out five while allowing five hits. Chris Mathewson, Chris Houston and Paul Giulio each pitched a shutout frame in relief for F&M.
Storm starter Zach Nobles (0-1) lasted just 1.2 frames in the loss, allowing seven runs on three hits.
Jon Borchert went 3-for-5 with two RBIs to pace Keuka, while Gavin Corbin tallied two hits and Dylan Thomas added an RBI in the defeat.
The Diplomats continue their homestand on Tuesday with a non-conference tilt against Lancaster Bible at 3:30 p.m.
