Benenson Tabbed for NYCBL All-Star Game

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – Franklin & Marshall baseball standout Will Benenson has been selected to play in the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) All-Star Game.

The NYCBL, a 12-team league located in Upstate New York, will hold its all-star game on Wednesday, July 11 at Sal Maglie Stadium in Niagara Falls, N.Y. at 7:00 pm.

Benenson has led the Hornell Dodgers to a league-best 19-9 record through the all-star break and the first-place spot in the league's western division. A rising junior at F&M, Benenson has played both third base and outfield for the Dodgers and ranks near the top on the squad in multiple statistical categories. He leads the team with a .367 batting average and ranks second in home runs (2), third in doubles (4), fourth in hits (29) and runs (15) and fifth in RBIs (14). His batting average is also the 12th-best in the league.

Benenson is coming off a collegiate season in which he batted .283 with 35 RBIs, 25 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples and two home runs. His 35 RBIs, three triples and two homers were team highs.

The NYCBL is a wood bat development league that gives college players an opportunity to develop their skills, gain experience with wood bats, and be evaluated by scouts. Teams play a 40-game regular season throughout June and July.
