Shoremen Repay Diplomats

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington scored a run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to comeback from a 2-1 deficit and defeat Franklin & Marshall 4-3 in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action.  The Diplomats fell to 17-12, 9-3 CC while the Shoremen improved to 16-12, 7-5 CC.

Will Benenson's RBI in single in the third inning put the first run on the board as F&M took a 1-0 advantage.  The Shoremen answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to knot the game at one all.

F&M took a 2-1 lead in fifth. Zach Honecker started things off with a single and moved to third after double from Matt Will. J.T. Triantos plated Honecker with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

Washington answered again with a run in the sixth.  The Shoremen load the bases and Ryan Normoyle's ground out to shortstop scored Dwight Wilcox to tie the game at two.

Normoyle put Washington up 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out single up the middle. One frame later, Wilcox launched a solo home run to left field with one out to put the Shoremen up 4-2.

In the top of the ninth, F&M cut the lead to 4-3 when Will singled to right-center with two outs to score Aaron Gillette from second.  Triantos lined out to third in the next at-bat to end the game.

Will went 3-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Triantos and Benenson both finished with one RBI.

Michael Morgenstern took the loss for F&M. Joe Kerarney-Argow picked up the win for the Shoremen.

F&M returns to action tomorrow with a double-header against Dickinson. First pitch is set for 12:30.
