Diplomats Tame Mustangs

GLEN BURNIE, Md.—Shea Moriarty’s double in the ninth
inning proved to be the game winner as Franklin & Marshall
defeated Stevenson 6-4 in non-conference baseball action. The win
makes it four straight for the Diplomats as they improve to
22-13-1. Stevenson drops to 17-26 on the year.
Matt Will walked in the second at bat of the ninth frame to get things started for F&M. Drew Atkins pitch ran for Will and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Moriarty hit a two-out double to left center plating Atkins, putting the Diplomats up 5-4. Nick Rolnick added an insurance run with an RBI single to left field.
The Diplomats started out with an early 3-1 lead, scoring a run in the first and two in the second inning. Stevenson answered back scoring a run in each of middle three frames, tying the game at four in bottom of the sixth.
Brendan McCreary picked up the win, appearing in the seventh
inning. McCreary (3-0) allowed just one hit in two innings of
work.
Moriarty was 2-for-4, scoring three runs and knocking in one
more.
The Diplomats return to action Friday when they travel to
Baltimore to take on Johns Hopkins in the first round of the
Centennial Conference championships. Game time is scheduled for
3pm.
