LANCASTER, Pa. – Schedules for Franklin & Marshall's spring athletic teams were announced and are available for viewing at GoDiplomats.com. Click on the links above to access each team's 2017 slate of contests.
The Diplomats open 2017 with a trio of games against Washington and Lee in Lexington, Va., on Feb. 25-26. Following a 10-game stint for F&M's spring break trip to Florida, the Diplomats return home on Tuesday, March 21 for their first home game against Hood at 3:30 p.m.
Centennial Conference (CC) play starts on Saturday, April 1 with a doubleheader against Washington at Caplan, while the CC Tournament is slated for May 4-7.
The men's golf team is set to begin the spring portion of their schedule at the McDaniel Spring Invitational on March 25-26., the first of four regular-season tournaments currently on the agenda for the Diplomats. McDaniel will once again host this year's CC Championships at The Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, Pa., with the three-day tournament running from April 28-30.
F&M's women's golf team is in the process of finalizing the spring portion of their schedule. Keep tabs on the team's schedule at GoDiplomats.com, which will be updated once more information becomes available.
The Diplomats will host the CC Championship for the second straight year, with the two-day occurring on April 22-3 at Foxchase Golf Club in Stevens.
Men's lacrosse begins 2017 at home against Lynchburg on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1:00 p.m. to open a string of three consecutive non-conference contests at Tylus. CC action starts on the road against Swarthmore on Saturday, March 25 at 12:00 p.m.
The Conference Semifinals are slated for Wednesday, May 3 while the CC Championship will take that following Saturday.
A total of eight teams from last year's NCAA Tournament field makes an appearance on the Diplomats' schedule, including F&M's season-opening opponent Washington and Lee at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25.
CC competition starts on Saturday, March 25 when the Diplomats travel to take on Swarthmore at 3:00 p.m. Key non-conference tilts include a rematch with last year's NCAA Regional Final opponent Salisbury at home on Sunday, March 26 before taking on defending National Champion Middlebury at Tylus the following Wednesday.
Postseason play opens with the CC First Round on Wednesday, May 3, with the Semifinals and Championship occurring on May 6-7. The NCAA Tournament begins Saturday, May 13, with the Final Four taking place at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Va., on May 27-28.
Men's and Women's Rowing
F&M's men's and women's rowing teams open the spring portion of their 2017 schedule by competing against St. Mary's College of Maryland on Friday, March 17, before traveling to the Murphy Cup in Philadelphia on Saturday, March. 25.
The Diplomats are currently scheduled to compete in six events leading up to the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships, which are set for Saturday, April 29 in Lewisberry.
Softball travels down to Orlando to open their 2017 season with 10 games over a span of six days from March 12-17. F&M begins the trip with a doubleheader against Illinois College at 1:30 p.m. and Rowan at 3:45 p.m.
The home opener will take place against York on Thursday, March 23, while CC competition begins that Saturday on the road against McDaniel. Following the team's 40-game regular season, the CC Tournament is set to run from May 5-7.
Men's and Women's Tennis
The men's side opens 2017 by traveling to Orlando for four matches over spring break, starting off against Wisconsin-La Crosse on Sunday, March 12. F&M's women's team begins its spring campaign with three matches from Feb. 18-19 at the Mary Washington Invitational.
Following the Diplomats' spring break trip (March 12-15), both teams open their CC and home slates against Ursinus on Saturday, March. 25. The CC Tournament starts with the First Round on Wednesday, May 3 and concludes on Sunday, May 7 with the Championship match.
Men's and Women's Track & Field
The outdoor season for F&M's men's and women's track & field teams begins on Saturday, March 18 at Mary Washington before the squads travel back to Lancaster to host the annual Little Three Meet on Saturday, March 25.
The CC Outdoor Championships are hosted by Johns Hopkins and run from May 5-7, while the NCAA Championships take place in Geneva, Ohio on May 25-27.
