LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall Athletics is excited to announce that beginning this fall, select home sporting events will be broadcast in high-definition (HD) quality, free of charge, through our video partner Stretch Internet, making F&M one of the first schools in NCAA Division III to transition to HD video streaming.
“We continue to set the bar for excellence in the field of athletic communications,” said Director of Athletics Patricia S.W. Epps. “This upgrade will enhance the experience of our alumni, parents and fans who enjoy watching our student-athletes compete.”
When an event is available in HD, there will be two different broadcasts listed in the F&M video portal. One stream will be titled “Standard Broadcast”, while the other will be titled “HD Broadcast”. Both streams will be active simultaneously during the game and will be available free of charge to all viewers.
The Athletic Communications Office recently purchased a Tricaster, a product that merges live video switching, broadcast graphics and web streaming into a portable, compact appliance. The Tricaster, in addition to the move to HD video, will allow F&M to continue to improve the quality of its broadcasts for Diplomat fans.
“In the past year we have seen our viewership grow exponentially and this upgrade will enhance their experience,” Epps said.
Following your favorite F&M teams has never been easier. As in the past, video and live in-game statistics can be viewed online or on your mobile smart phones. To access live video broadcasts of F&M sporting events visit GoDiplomats.com/live.
In addition to this summer’s video broadcast upgrades, each social media page is being updated with new and improved designs. Using social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter is a great way to stay connected to F&M Athletics. Not only does the athletic department have a main “F&M Athletics” page for both Facebook and Twitter, but each sport has its own individualized page as well. All releases are posted to Facebook and Twitter, as well as other content pertinent to each team. Visit GoDiplomats.com/Facebook and GoDiplomats.com/Twitter to stay connected.
Another way to stay up to date with F&M Athletics is through its YouTube page, where video clips are posted to promote our student-athletes and teams throughout the year. This year, look for more video highlights and recaps than ever before. Videos will be uploaded to our YouTube channel, “Diplomat World View”. These videos will be available on our official YouTube page, GoDiplomats.com/YouTube, or the video player located on the right side of the GoDiplomats.com homepage.
Quick links to each of these social media pages can be easily accessed by utilizing the Social Media Bar located on the top-right corner of each page on GoDiplomats.com. The Social Media Bar also contains links to the F&M video and live stats portal, game-action photos from David Sinclair, e-mail alerts, RSS feeds, and a composite schedule of all F&M athletic events.
